We’re the Best -  Again!

The America’s Promise Alliance has announced the winners of the 100 Best Communities for Young People contest, and we won! This is the 5th time Greater Spokane has been recognized for its work to help children and youth grow up healthy and successful. For more information about the 100 Best competition, click here. Leadership Academy for Postsecondary Success

In early October, three community leaders representing the City of Spokane, Community Colleges of Spokane, and Spokane Area Workforce Development Council, traveled to Indianapolis to learn how other cities are improving college readiness and postsecondary success.  The Leadership Academy was presented by the National League of Cities and sponsored by the Lumina Foundation. Our representatives returned to Spokane armed with a vast array of ideas and tools to help us create a community-wide vision and goals for improving our college graduation rates.  To see what resources were gleaned from the Leadership Academy, click here.

Rachel’s Challenge Comes to Spokane

This year, the Chase Youth Commission and KREM2 will partner to bring safety, kindness, and compassion to students in schools and the community through an initiative called Rachel’s Challenge. To read more about how students will take the lead in reducing bullying, click here.
