BOBfest (Battle of the Bands) Winners Announced!
The Chase Youth Commission, Hoffman Music, College Road Recording, and YMCA presented BOBfest 2010 Saturday, June 12th in Spokane’s Riverfront Park. Twelve teen garage bands competed for prizes from Hoffman Music, recording time from College Road Recording, and paid performances at Riverfront Park’s Fourth of July Celebration, Pig Out In The Park, and First Night Spokane. The event was a great success in bringing together the bands and the community. Each band had the opportunity to play three original songs and be critiqued on its performance by a panel of judges. This year’s winners are: 1st place – Lazürwuulf, 2nd place – Olaf Olaf Olaf, and 3rd place – The Cause. Lazürwuulf also won the People’s Choice Award. Read more...

The Chase Youth Commission is recruiting for five open youth positions on various City of Spokane and Spokane County Boards and Commissions. Applicants must be a junior or senior in high school and at least 16 years of age at the time of appointment. Applications will be accepted until positions are filled. TAC is open to students grades 8 through 12 and gives teens and youth in our community the opportunity to voice their opinions while providing a forum for them to make a difference and meet other teens from across Spokane County. Registration Now Open for Washington Business Week
Washington Business Week (WBW) is a week-long, hands-on, experiential, overnight summer program for high school students (grades 9-12) to explore what the future holds in the real-world. Programs are held at four university campuses: Western Washington University (June 20-26), Gonzaga University (July 11-17), Central Washington University (July 18-24), and Pacific Lutheran University (August 1-7). Spokane Industry Videos for Youth
The Spokane Area Workforce Development Council (SAWDC) is pleased to announce the release of six career awareness videos that provide information about local key industries and educational programs: Business, Manufacturing, Health Care, Transportation, Green Industry, and Construction. It is the hope of the SAWDC that the videos will inspire young people to remain in school, connect to postsecondary opportunities, and finally, pursue careers in the Spokane area. 2010 Champions of Youth Award Winners Announced
The Chase Youth Commission is pleased to announce its Champions of Youth Award winners for 2010. A Champion of Youth is someone who provides opportunities for youth to have a voice and to become empowered community leaders. The awards will be presented at the Chase Youth Foundation’s annual Breakfast of Champions on Friday, April 9th, from 7-8:30am at The Lincoln Center, 1316 N. Lincoln Street.
