Teen Advisory Council
Formed in April, 1986, the Teen Advisory Council (TAC) provides an opportunity for teens, in grades 8-12 from schools and organizations throughout Spokane County, to get involved in community projects and initiatives of the Chase Youth Commission. The Teen Advisory Council meets the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of each month, 6-7:30pm, at Spokane City Hall, 808 W. Spokane Falls Blvd.
TAC is committed to working with the Chase Youth Commission to address youth issues in Spokane County. Currently our projects include: Youth Issues Candidates’ Forum, Chase Youth Awards, Communication, West Central Neighborhood Project, Breakfast of Champions, and Rachel’s Challenge. Our goal is to create awareness around youth issues in the community and to focus our efforts to help address them. Our teens are responsible for all aspects of the projects including planning, implementing, promotion, and community development. They take great pride in the standard of excellence that has come to be represented by these projects.
Throughout the year we’re inviting representatives from various community organizations to present in areas that address issues, and provide resources that our youth need. Topics that they will cover are: Diversity, College Prep, Leadership, Community Service, and Media. They will hear about opportunities in the community and how to improve their own skills. These presenters will take place on the 1st Tuesday of each month and all teens’ ages 13-18 are invited to attend.
