Young people do amazing things everyday, whether it’s leading a community service project, helping a friend or family member in need, overcoming a personal hardship or difficult situation, enriching the lives of others through artistic expression, valuing cultural and/or social diversity, or setting a positive example for others to follow. Each year, the Chase Youth Commission honors our community’s outstanding youth, teens, and adults who are making a difference in our community or making positive choices through the Chase Youth Awards. The purpose is show our youth we are proud of their actions and to feature them as community role models.

2012 CATEGORIES:
Arts & Creativity – Enriching others through imaginative skills and originality in such activities as acting, dance, music, visual arts, or writing.
Community Involvement – Volunteering to meet a need in the community through action, education, advocacy, or service.
Courage – Standing up for beliefs, values, and personal integrity and taking action during challenging circumstances to make a difference.
Cultural Awareness – Valuing cultural and/or social diversity through action, lifestyle awareness or education.
Environment – Demonstrating leadership and commitment to heighten awareness about environmental issues and promote actions that lead toward sustainability.
Leadership – Demonstrating the ability to lead others toward a positive goal.
Personal Achievement – Overcoming obstacles or personal challenges through initiative and determination.
Jim Chase “Asset Builder” Adult - An outstanding adult who has gone above and beyond in bettering the lives of youth in our community through asset building
2011
On March 13th, 2011 the Chase Youth Commission held the 25th annual Chase Youth Awards. Over 1,000 youth were honored for their hardwork and dedication for enriching the lives of youth all over Spokane County. Youth 5-18 years of age were nominated in categories that highlight strengths of character valued by our community including: Arts & Creativity, Community Involvement, Courage, Cultural Awareness, Environment, Leadership, and Personal Achievement. In addition one adult was chosen to receive the Jim Chase “Asset Builder” Award which is given by youth to an adult who has gone above and beyond in bettering the lives of young people.
Each of the over 1000 nominees received a nomination ribbon and a certificate. However, only 28 award winners were chosen from all the nominees. These 28 were given a medallion or plaque, and letters of congratulations from elected officials.
