MIDDLE SCHOOL – ARTS & CREATIVITY

This next award winner was recently selected to be a student ambassador with People to People on a tour to France, Switzerland, Austria, and Italy this upcoming summer. Using his imagination he worked to raise over seven thousand dollars in just over seven months in a less labor intensive way. In early December, he held his first concert: Jazz, Jokes, & Just Plain Fun at Covenant United Methodist Church. He invited people he knew from church, school, scouts, and theatre, and all of their friends too. As Northwood Middle School’s lead alto saxophonist, he demonstrated his creativity through music, imagination, and humor. Through his scouting experience: he earned his Life Rank and 17 merit badges, and is taking voice lessons through the Christian Youth Theatre where he also sings, dances, and acts in Christian Youth Theater’s Footloose and Seize the Day productions. He wants to increase his cultural intelligence quotient, by learning about other countries, and, most importantly, wants to get an early start on changing the world. Even though his goal was to raise money for his trip he donated ten percent of the proceeds from the concert towards church camperships for other youth so they could have opportunities like his.
