HYPER-Formance Jazz Dance Club
TEEN GROUP – ARTS & CREATIVITY
This group of incredible kids writes their own musical theatre production for a live and television audience every year. Anyone who wants to participate may, so there are children who are blind, deaf, severe ADHD, Autism, in wheelchairs, and walking with double prosthetics. These kids write the show, select the music, help choreograph, build props, design costumes, plan lighting, makeup, and back stage management. They average several hours a week, just in the dance segments, and can put in as much as 10 hours a week in planning or drama creation. They help each other and quickly teach and incorporate each performers best skills, and work diligently to improve the “weakest link” in themselves. Teamwork is learned, valued and appreciated within this organization. Their effort is visible at each year’s production. In fact, it extends far beyond their production as they go on to teach dance, perform else where, go into the military, or become parents.
