ELEMENTARY – COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

After hearing a news story about an organization called Inland Northwest Honor Flight, which raises money to send WWII Veterans and terminally ill Veterans of all wars to see their memorials in Washington D.C., this award winner immediately decided he wanted to raise money for local veterans. His goal was to raise $600, which is the cost to send one veteran on a trip to Washington D.C. He raised money by starting a “change drive” in his community and expanded out to asking businesses to donate to his cause. To date, he’s received over $5000.00 in donations, which has funded three veterans to go on Honor Flights with two more are on the waiting list. The publicity he’s received has inspired a Girl Scout troop and a young girl in Spokane to also raise money for Inland Northwest Honor Flight. Because of his success and his sense of pride in himself this award winner has decided to continue his efforts to help veterans.
